| Description |
The Cadillac Automobile Company was founded in 1903. In 1909 Cadillac was acquired by General Motors, GMs premier luxury car. 1948; all new sheet metal, tail fins were added, pontoon front fenders, wrap around windshields and lots of bright work. 1949; new 160hp 331 cu in OHV V8. The Coupe de Ville Hardtop Coupe was also introduced late in 49. 1950; the grille was redesigned incorporating large fog lights, ribbed chrome beneath the headlights wrapped around the fenders, all 2 door Coupes were now hardtops. 1951; small auxiliary grilles were added beneath the headlamps. 1952; grilles gone, gold embellishments beneath headlights. 1953; one-piece rear windows, the pointed front bumper guards raised to the fog light area and parking lamps now under the headlights. Models available in 1952 were; Series 60 Special Fleetwood; 130 inch wheelbase C body, (4 door Sedan) Series 62; 126 inch wheelbase C body, (2 door Hardtop, Coupe deVille, Convertible and 4 door Sedan) Series 75 Fleetwood; 147 inch wheelbase D body, (4 door Sedan and Imperial Sedan) |
